Auditor proposes open-meeting dispute resolution

Tuesday, 13th March 2019

"Ohio’s program to resolve disputes with government agencies over access to public records has worked well enough that state Auditor Keith Faber on Tuesday proposed expanding it to include alleged open meeting violations.

“A process that can resolve that kind of dispute for $25 just makes a world of sense,” Mr. Faber said.

The Republican auditor also said his office will create an online scorecard for the public to see how well state and local governmental entities comply with Ohio’s public records law as measured by routine audits at least every two years.

The announcement came during Sunshine Week, an annual attempt to put a spotlight on openness — or lack thereof — in government."
